Since I’ve recently showed you one sashing option for the Home Sweet Home Quilt Along Quilt using the Tri Recs Ruler, Diamonds in the Rough,  I’m going to just keep on going with that method and show you ‘Tri Recs Trees’.

097

For the Tri Recs Trees sashing I wanted to fussy cut the ‘tree’ portion so that some of the cute woodland creatures would show up in the middle.  I cut a pretty decent strip length that is 3.5” wide so I could get just the right location.

In the picture above you can see that I would be featuring a raccoon if I cut in that location.

For the background of the trees cut out two 3.5-inch squares of background fabric.

For the Tree Trunks cut:

2 – 3.5” x 1” strip of brown fabric

4 – 3.5” x 1.75” of green or background fabric.

Sew the background fabric strips to either side of the brown strips to create ‘trunks’  Make two 3.5” squares of trunks.

Use the same method as you used in the Diamonds in the Rough sashing to create two tree tops.

103

Make two 3.5” square tree tops.

104

Sew the tree tops to the the end of the ‘trunk’ squares so that it looks as if a tree trunk is coming from the tree.  Do this twice and then stack them on each other sewing all four squares together.

You now have a your Tri Recs Tree Sashing.  Easy Peasy!

Again – don’t hesitate if you have any questions to clarify these instructions!  I’m happy to help!
