Quilt Alongs Combined

I have a really hard time saying no to quilt alongs…espeically when prizes are involved.

I just couldn’t resist the Aurifil Designer Block of the Month any longer…especially with potential to win some amazing Aurifil thread!  I finished the June block and I’m in love with the fabric combo I picked out of my stash to work with.  In my mind one of the bummers about a Block of the Month is that there are only 12 blocks.  Even with sashing added this is not a very big quilt.

So – I decided to add a second quilt along into the mix of my Auriful Designer Blocks and see what I come with.  I purchased the Bungalow Quilting BOM patterns as soon as I saw this block – ‘The Big Bad Wolf’.  I just couldn’t resist it even though I’m not that big into paper piecing.  Tonight I finished the ‘Big Bad Wolf’ block and I’m loving it.  These blocks are finishing up smaller than the Aurifil ones but I’ll add some creative boarders and/or sashings to make them all mesh in the end.

I’m really excited to see how this turns out!  It’s going to be a mix of fairy tale and tradition!  I definitely have a lot of catching up to do but it’s going to be worth it in the end!
