Dresden Neighborhood Tuffet

Back in 2020 – just before the pandemic hit, Cheryl from Unspooled reached out to me and commented on how perfect a Dresden Neighborhood would look on one of her tuffets. I 100% agreed and after a bit of chatting I started my Dresden Neighborhood Tuffet. Now – you can’t really buy a Dresden Neighborhood pattern to make the tuffet but I used my pattern as a starting point for this project, tweaking it to make it work for the tuffet.

A typical tuffet would actually have double the wedges (so 64 instead of 32) that you see here. The next Dresden Neighborhood tuffet I make I’m actually going to make even half the number (16!) of houses I did this time.

I spent many months working on this tuffet on and off until I was finally ready to meet virtually Cheryl to learn how make this beast into an actual tuffet.

I got the complete tuffet kit from Cheryl’s website HERE so I was ready for her to talk me through it. When COVID isn’t happening Cheryl offers an awesome two day class to make this tuffet. The first day you make the fabric covering and the second day she helps you make it into the tuffet.

I’m so excited on how this turned out! The houses added such a fun whimsical touch to this adorable tuffet. It fits my home perfectly.

I have another tuffet kit and for the next one I’m going to try to build the houses so they come up from the sides and the roofs are more in the center or on the side. I’m not sure I’m explaining this properly but in my head it looks awesome!
