Let's Get Plaid About It

I was so excited when I saw that Trish made this weeks Project QUILTING Challenge 'Scads of Plaid." I literally have a stack of plaid fabric in my sewing room that will someday make a quilt! I'm thinking for this week I'll play around with my plaid stash and different fabric blocks to see what I want to do in the end with it on a larger scale.
There is so much inspiration out there so if you are feeling stumped or want some suggestions keep reading! (If you want to make your project first, stop now and come back once you're done to see some other fun ideas!).

Plaid Quilt Patterns
Let's start with Plaid Quilt patterns. There are so many but I chose the four that cought my eye the most!

For some reason you don't have any plaid in your stash? (You can always make your own using the patterns above) OR let's go shopping!
Support Your Local Quilt Shop
Be sure to check out your local quilt shop like Blue Bar Quils in Middleton, WI (they ship too!).

Blue Bar Quilts has an amazing selection of plaids from flannels to fabelism to quilting cotton. I love when they're is something "hidden' in a pattern like Whisker Wonderland!
Plaid Fabric Bundles
I'm not sure if it will get to you in time for this challenge but also be sure to check out the great selection of plaids from the Fat Quarter Shop.

I personally love a good bundle of fabric! It's a great way to get a bunch without over committing to one design.
Easy Strip Cutting
Want a short cut for cutting your strips to make your own plaid?

Maybe it's time to invest in a few different sizes of the Strip Cutter Dies that Accuquilt has to offer. You can cut up to six layers of fabric in mere seconds and it doesn't bother your wrists like rotary cutters can!
Plaid Fabrics in Traditional Blocks

I just used a bunch of plaid Fableism fabrics from Blue Bar Quilts to make Capri's graduation quilt. Don't forget the cool effect plaid fabrics can have when incorporated into traditional blocks like this modified bear paw.
