A Lovely Year of Finishes–August Goals

I can’t believe it’s August 1st!  That means in just two weeks we’ll be opening our orchard up for apple season.  There’s still so much to do get the shop and the place ready!

That being said, I’m keeping my goals for this month pretty minimal.

Goal 1 – Bind my Scrappy Trip Along

My Scrappy Trip Along came back from Quilts by Barb and it looks amazing!  I love the geometric design she chose to put all over it.

I know binding isn’t normally a big deal but this is a BIG quilt!  I still have to make the binding, machine sew it on and then hand stitch it.  Since it’s so big it won’t be easy to haul around to my usual hand-stitching locations…gymnastics, ballet, or swimming.  I’m sure I’ll figure it out though!

Goal 2 – Baby Quilt for an Expecting Friend

A good friend of mine from my childhood is expecting her first baby.  I was unable to make it to her baby shower but I still plan on making her new bundle a quilt!  My friend LOVES to read and when I saw this fabulous book fabric at Hawthorne threads I knew it needed to used for her babies quilt.

As of right now I’m going to start with this book shelf piece and then build around it until I get it to the size I want.  If I remember correctly she’s due in September (it’s a girl) so I need to FINISH (and start) this quilt this month!

That’s it.  Those are my goals.  I should be able to complete them…right!?
