Classic And Vintage: Broken Dishes Quilt Block

During apple season, whenever I have a project that I’ve volunteered to work on, I always try to make it fit more than one of my tasks. When the Fat Quarter Shop asked for folks to make a 12” Classic and Vintage: Broken Dishes quilt block I knew I could make it work for another project I had going on.
Plus – it’s always fun to try out new tools when making a block! We got to use the Square on Square 8” Trim Tool and Triangles on a Roll for this free tutorial from the Fat Quarter Shop.
I needed my block to read low volume so I mixed together two fabrics from my stash … a gold striped Victoria Findlay Wolfe Fabric and a bowling score sheet of Cotton and Steel.
Utilizing the Trim Tool and the Triangle on a Roll paper it didn’t take me long to have my 12-inch Broken Dish Quilt Block all pieced together!
And for good measure … a fun shot of the block with a cute little suitcase.
And I already put that Broken Dish block to work … you can spot it in the middle of the smallest star on the quilt above!
Check out what other designers made using this fun Classic and Vintage block pattern.
