Have a lot of Hearts–a Quilted Pillow

I decided I wanted to make a nested heart pillow for the Project QUILTING ‘Have a Heart’ Challenge. I drew my design up on EQ7 and decided to paper piece it together. I printed out all the templates which I then had to tape together since the paper wasn’t big enough. Then – to keep things straight I colored in the different hearts with various colors. It was a mess! I’m not quite sure what I was thinking …
But – I did it anyway. I put together all the pieces.
I had a vision and this is one of those times when my vision was a bit too pink. Wowza! That’s a really pink quilt!!!!
I thought about quilting it in black but multiple folks recommend that I use white to calm it down. I had a lot of fun free motion quilting this on my bernina using aurifil thread. I tried out lots of different designs – a different one in each heart!
I did not quilt in the thin black/lime green batik heart and it just sort of ‘pops’ out of the quilt this way.
Isn’t the quilting so much fun!?
So … here it is – ‘Have a lot of Hearts’ – a Quilted Pillow. It’s bright, it’s big (24” x 24”) and it’s done. This is definitely not my favorite piece ever but I like it better than I thought I would as I realized just how ‘pink’ it was turning.
I used a fun printed fabric for the back too! And since it’s a pillow! I have an entry for the Nancy Zieman pillow challenge!
