I'm Coming to the Cottage Finished Quilt

If you've watched Heated Rivalry I'm pretty sure you understand how it tends to just CONSUME your life. You can't stop re-watching (reheating) it. You can't stop watching reels/tiktoks about it. You buy the books and must read them books and then you reheat the shows again. It's such an amazing show, with incredible acting, directing, everything!

So, when I saw the Project QUILTING challenge this week was "Of Another Era" I realized I had to do a project about Heated Rivalry since that's the era I've been living in for the last month.

I started by finding the Hockey Sticks pattern that I purchased last year from Patterns by Shaley on etsy. It was going to be just what I needed. I just had that hysterectomy so I knew I had to keep my project small for this week.

I knew I was going to use blue/red for one of the sticks and yellow/black for the other to represent the teams Shane and Ilya are on. Ideally, I would have loved to have loons on my background fabric but I figured at least a bird or two would work.

In just a few hours I had the piece whipped up!

"lovers"
"lovers"

It was time to quilt and I knew I had to free motion quilt some of the iconic quotes from the show like "lovers," "we didn't even kiss,"

"boring"
"boring"

"boring," and "I'm coming to the cottage."

"we didn't even kiss"
"we didn't even kiss"

There is way more than that on here too but you really have to look closely.

I added a fun red and yellow flange border into the piece. I then tacked it down in a few spots so it created a wave effect. I decided to face the binding honestly because it's easier than regular binding but it did end up working out well. The piece ended up 12" x 12" and I'm naming it "I'm coming to the cottage."

If you haven't watched Heated Rivalry on HBO Max I recommend you add it to your watch list! It's really that good!

The next Project QUILTING Challenge goes up next Sunday, March 1st and Noon CST right here on the blog!
