Month 10– Halloween Night for the Dresden Neighborhood Sew Along

I think I’m getting older.  I remember having so much more energy and time during apple season than I do this year.  It’s either I’m getting older or we’re just getting busier or a mixture of both!  Either way – I FINALLY got some sewing done yesterday and it was just in time to put together the Dresden Neighborhood to inspire you for October! I haven’t highlighted a holiday yet, but since I really love Halloween I thought October would be a great time for a holiday Dresden Neighborhood (I may have to do a Christmas themed one too … we’ll see …).

Instead of digging though my current collection and just “making it work” as I have for most of the previous Dresden Neighborhoods – I decided to start with the Witches Brew Fat Quarter Bundle from the Fat Quarter Shop.  I filled in with just a few fabrics I already had in my stash including a creepy halloween-esque one I created on spoonflower from a picture of my girls trick or treating one year. One of the fabrics in the bundles (in both black and orange) was perfect for fussy cutting a fabulous skeleton house!

I haven’t added my doors and windows yet … I’m not sure just how many I’m actually going to put in here.  There’s just so many fun patterns in the fabric that I don’t want to cover them up too much!  I will definitely do at least a few to help define the idea that these are supposed to be houses but I won’t be doing it for all of them for sure.

I was able to fussy cut out a witches hat from one of the fabrics to use as a roof!  I love how that worked! Now it’s your turn!  Let’s see what you come up with for your Dresden Neighborhood for the #DresdenNeighborhoodSAL!  Feel free to share photos in my facebook group “Quilt and Dream Along with Kim Lapacek”, post to instagram with the hashtag #DresdenNeighborhoodSAL.  If you’re not feeling solids – feel free to use whatever theme/idea you have!
