New Christmas Stockings – DIY

When we decorated our tree and house for Christmas I realized that I only had four stockings.  Well – as most of you know – we added a fifth person to our household this past April.  We needed another Stocking!

So, instead of going to the store to buy another I decided to use this fantastic felt stocking that i got for Christmas one year as my template.  I drew a pattern from it – with an extra 1/4 seam allowance for sewing.  Then, since my felt wasn’t big enough – I sewed two pieces of felt together for each side of the stocking.  Using the pattern I cut the stocking out and sewed them together.  Then, we took the scraps of felt from that was left from the stocking cut out to decorate our stockings along with some fun rik rak and sequins.   We simply just glued them on.

This is the stocking that I made for myself.

And here is the stocking I decorate for Pip – Cedi and Capri picked out the colors for it.

Here is the amazing stocking that Capri (3) decorated.

And here is Cedi’s (5).  She decided that she wanted to trade with Pip for stockings this year.  We’ll see who she decides to trade with next year.

And here they all are! It was a really fun project and I loved watching my girls decorate their new stockings.  We will treasure these for many years to come.
