Orange Slice Hot Pad–a Finish

A bit ago I got a new book – “simple, fun & quickly done” by Terry Atkinson. It includes 18 easy-to-sew table runners, bags, pillows and more. I’m digging the different projects in the book. They’re just like the title says – they’re simple, fun and quick!
The first project I tackled is this fantastic orange slice hot pad. Isn’t it adorable? Wouldn’t this make a great Christmas gift? I think I’ll be making fruit slice sets (orange, lime, and lemon) for family … hmmm .. they would also make cool teacher gifts for the start of the year (or Christmas).
I finished binding this little orange guy at a softball game so I had to take a picture with the proper background. Also, I think I may try to do a watermelon one … green outside, white, and then red polka dotted fabric perhaps?
I know it’s only July but it’s not a bad idea to get started on some of those gifts you want to make. Just browsing through the book I know this is a great resource for some adorable, unique things. The Bacon-and Eggs Hot Pad is on my list next … it’s a perfect project for the “Summer Sizzle Project QUILTING Challenge!”
