Happy Sunday everyone!  I can’t believe it’s already March AND there’s only two challenges left for season 4.  So many amazing quilts have been created in the last few months – I hope you’re all very proud of yourself for the work you’ve done.  We’ve never had this high of participation and this many people sticking with it!  But don’t forget – it’s never too late to join in the fun!  You can do any or all of the challenges!

Before we get to the challenge let’s take a look at…

The Prizes

Everyone who enters a quilt into this weeks challenge, in the time frame given and following the challenge’s guidelines, will be entered into the random drawing to win the following prizes from our incredibly generous Project QUILTING sponsors:

Now – let’s see what we’re facing this week…

from Diane…

Some of my favorite Project Quilting challenges from past seasons have been based on a visit to a specific type of place. In Season 1 it was an office supply store, in season 2 a hardware store and a ‘Catalog It’ Off Season Challenge. For this week’s challenge, we are going to try a different twist on this idea.

Challenge 5: Print Publications

  1. Choose a print publication***. Right now I have lots of trade publications (fruit and vegetable grower magazines for us orchard people) and seed catalogs. Quilt magazines or fabric catalogs are great possibilities. Any print publication that you have in your possession qualifies. Those that have lots of pictures are best. You might want to gather up a few, and then read the rest of this challenge before you decide which is to be your chosen publication.

  2. Open your publication to page 28. Your inspiration must come from this page. Be sure to take a picture of the page, or the portion of it that provided your inspiration and include it when you upload your photos. I realize the temptation will be great to check out page 28 of every publication you can find, but please try to honor the spirit of this challenge.

  1. Your project does not need to be a traditional quilt, but must meet at least one of these requirements:

    1. Include patchwork.

    2. Include appliqué.

    3. Have 3 layers stitched together by hand or machine.

  2. Your project must have a name.

  3. Please remember that these projects need to be created during the week of the challenge.

  4. POST your entries with a description of your creative process, including where you are (ie, I create in Madison, WI) and the size of your project by Sunday, March 10th, 2013, by NOON, CDT, to this flickr group, Project QUILTING with Persimon Dreams –OR email a picture/description of your completed project to {lapaceksorchard at gmail dot com} with PROJECT QUILTING in the subject line.

***If you don’t have a print publication but want to participate –email me {lapaceksorchard at gmail dot com}.  I’d be happy to choose a random page 28 and send you the picture of it for your inspiration.

If you wish to receive critiques on your piece – the good and critical – please add your photo’s to this group as well:  http://www.flickr.com/groups/1628629@N24/

Are you stuck?  Need a little ‘Tim Gunn’ advice during the week?  Or are you just so excited on how things are going along and what to share your WIP?  We have a group for that!http://www.flickr.com/groups/1430386@N24/

If this is the first Project Quilting challenge you’ve participated in, please email Kim at {lapaceksorchard at gmail dot com} with PROJECT QUILTING in the subject line.  Please include your name, flickr name, email and a website if you have one.

Please add my button to your blog to help spread the word!  Thanks!
