Scrappy Pineapple Quilt Finish

So many scraps! I seriously have so, so many scraps! In 2020, the Scrap Quilt challenge gave a different block each month to inspire us to use up some of those scraps. The block for February is – Pineapple!

This is the quilt I came up with! I pieced scrappy rainbow pineapple blocks with 6″ Pineapple Quilt Block Foundation Papers.  The center of each block is fussy cut featuring some sort of fun image from a fabric. I made 40 of these 6″ pineapple blocks which made 10 12″ blocks. I needed at least 20 12″ blocks to make a quilt big enough to fit the challenge (48″ x 60″ min). There was just no way I was going to make 40 more! So I had to think a bit. I started by making four more 6″ paper pieced blocks with brown scraps. I then set these on point to fill up the 12″ block space.

Then I decided to get 12″ Pineapple Quilt Block Foundation Papers to make the last six blocks I needed. I decided to stick with the scrappy browns for these blocks. I think the brown helps calm down the rainbow blocks and brings this piece together. I was also able to use some larger fussy cut prints for the centers of the blocks.

Kim Van Etten quilted this piece for me and she did a fabulous job as always! I love that I have a long arm quilter that I can hand my quilt tops too and just tell her to do what she feels.

And like that – my Scrappy Pineapple Quilt is finished!

There are still 10 months left of Scrap Quilt Challenges to finish! I have put a good dent on the next few months and I’m excited to share them with you as the year progresses.
