Sew Colorful Fat Quarter Club 2020 – February is Pink!

Happy Friday everyone!  I’ve been sitting at my computer all day getting a bunch of posts ready for the third Project QUILTING Challenge which will be posted on my blog on Sunday, February 2nd at Noon, CST.  It’s time to take a quick break from that project and tell you about something else I’m working on!

The Fat Quarter shop has a 2020 Sew Colorful Fat Quarter Club and I am excited to be making a special project out of the February Sew Colorful Fat Quarter Club bundle – which is Pink!

I was sent the majority of the fabrics that will be in the pink bundle (February was a quick turn around month and I had to get started!).  You can read all about the club on the Fat Quarter Shop’s post HERE.  I do enjoy a good PINK!

I did need some background fabrics to compliment the pinks for the project I picked out so I also purchased a Animalia Edition Fat Quarter Bundle.  I took out the one fabric that read “dark” and replaced it with a “light” fat quarter from my own personal stash.  I can’t wait to see what these fabrics do when combined!

Since February is also the month of Valentine’s day I thought a heart quilt would be the perfect project.  I found the perfect pattern from Purple Daisies Quilting – Love Machine!  The more fat quarters the better on this one.

Once I purchased the pattern and looked it over I also realized that the dies from my 8″ GO! Cube would work for cutting out all the fabric I needed.  I sometimes forget how easy my Accuquilt GO! Die Cutter can make quilt making!  By cutting out the pieces perfectly I can make this whole quilt without working about cutting/squaring up blocks.  This is going to go fast which is perfect for a quilt project with a quick turnaround.  Before I knew it I was all ready to start sewing!

My first “Love Machine” block is already done!  I don’t think I’m going to make the entire quilt but I am going to make at least nine of these heart blocks.  We’ll see what happens as I keep going!

I will reveal the quilt (it might not be quilted yet) on February 21st!
