Sew Intertwined Quilt - Stockholm Fabrics by Robin Singone

A Quilt Along put on by Sew Bittersweet Designs and SewHappyGeek

Today I’m going to pick out some fabric from the Fat Quarter Shop – a great online fabric store and supporter of independent quilt bloggers – that would look great in the ‘Sew Intertwined Quilt Along’ being put on by my friend Melissa of Sew Bittersweet Designs and SewHappyGeek.  I haven’t pulled fabric from my stash for this quilt along yet so I figured I’d do a little ‘Virtual Window Shopping’ for some inspiration.  I hope this gets your brain turning too and you decide to join in the quilt along fun!

Fabric Requirements –

Fabric 1: 2/3 yard (orange in image above)

Fabric 2: 2/3 yards (green in image above)

Fabric 3: 2/3 yards (pink in image above)

Fabric 4: 2/3 yards (leaf in image above)

Fabric 5: 2/3 yards (multi colored in image above)

Yes – I combined fabrics 4 & 5.  I think that in the pattern you can do this and you won’t loose too much effect if any.

Fabric 6: 1 yard (Daisy Janie Grey Print)

Fabric 7 – Background: 2 yard cut (solid)

I never decide on borders and bindings until my quilt is pieced so I’m not going to tell you what to use right now.  I would order a bit extra of the fabrics and then you can usually come up with a border from that.

For this mix I started with the butterfly fabric and then worked from there.  Initially I figured I would pull one of each butterfly color for the ‘woven strands’ but then I thought a more dramatic look would be accomplished by using different shades of purple for most of the darker fabrics.  When I spotted the purple and green stripe fabric I knew it would be perfect as a second focal fabric to the butterflies.

Hmmm…I’ll have to think about doing this for my quilt…I still haven’t started it…ooops…
