Stripey Cartwheels from Natalie Santini of sewhungryhippie – Block 5 of the Old School Block of the Month

It’s May 12th! The 12th in 2021 is a very special day every month because a new block for the Old School BOM 2021 is released. If you missed all the beginning info you can find out all about this Block of the Month HERE. Today is also the day after my hubby’s birthday so happy belated birthday Jared!

This May we have designer Natalie Santini of SewHungryHippie joining us with a fun “Stripey Cartwheels” Block tutorial! Natalie is seriously one of the most fun people ever! I am honored to call her a friend and I’ve also been lucky enough to take a class with her at a past Modern Stitching Affair Retreat. Natalie has my favorite kind of attitude about sewing and creating – just do it! It doesn’t have to be perfect! Have fun, make something, and love it! So when you’re working on this block – don’t stress – have fun! She’s also the queen of vinyl, bags and crazy awesome clothing! I whipped my “Stipey Cartwheel” block together yesterday afternoon and it’s super fun, quick and easy to make and as a bonus – you get two blocks!!! Natalie shows it with two fabrics, I went with six just because I could. There is a strong possibility that I’ll be making more of these blocks to use in the setting for a bigger quilt than just a 12 block quilt. I like that it could be a way to help meld all the different fabrics together in this fun scrappy quilt.
