Tiny House Artsy Tote for the Fussy Cut PQ Challenge

I LOVE fussy cutting so I was really excited when I saw the Project QUILTING Fussy Cut Challenge Trish came up with. Once again – I had TOO MANY ideas going through my head and I had to narrow it down to something cool but doable. Participation in Project QUILTING has exploded this year which is SO AWESOME but it also means I have a lot more work “behind the scenes” each week which then leads to a smaller project.

I recently discovered this book “Houses, Houses, Houses!” by Yoko Saito and as I was browsing through it I saw a super cute bag that I knew I would make. I had the perfect fabric that I could fussy cut to achieve a similar look to the pattern but also save me TONS of time.

And here it is – my Tiny House Artsy Tote!

I also pulled out my new-to-me Sashiko BabyLock machine to figure out how it works. Well – it’s super cool and before I knew it I had my entire project stitched Sashiko style. This machine uses ONE THREAD – from the bottom, no thread comes through the top … it’s mind blowing!

I’m really horrible at quilting anything straight so my strategy is to purposed stitch non-straight lines for added interest.

This bag didn’t take me much time at all so before I knew it I had my Project QUILTING Fussy Cut piece done. I’m looking forward to working through some more projects from this book … she even has patterns to make bags shaped like houses!
