WIP Wednesday – Round 8

Again, I had a pretty unproductive week in the ‘non-crafting’ world. On the other hand I did lots of fun things with my kiddo’s and got some much needed rest.

I am done making yoyo’s!
Size of yo-yo’s | Quanity Made | Goal | % Complete |
1 (largest) | 17 | 18 | 94% |
2 | 50 | 54 | 93% |
3 | 60 | 48 | 125% |
4 | 63 | 48 | 131% |
5 | 65 | 64 | 102% |
6 (smallest) | 45 | 40 | 113% |
TOTAL | 300 | 272 | 110% |
That’s right – 300 yo’yo’s later and now it’s time to focus on sewing them onto the actual quilt!

There will be no more pictures of ‘loose’ yoyo’s scattered on the quilt – I will just show you pictures as I continue to attach them to the piece and the layering grows into a beautiful BLOOMing Garden. The larger ones I used my free motion quilt to stitch them on – it didn’t work very well. So, now I’m ‘tacking’ them on using the zig-zag stitch with my feed dogs down. I do this in approximately 4 to 5 spots on the yoyo. This seems to be working much better…
Three blocks are officially complete for the Patchwork Squared Modern Solids Quilt Along. I’ll be blogging in the next few days more about Block’s 2 and 3. Read more about Block 1: http://kimlapacek.com/2011/04/block-1-patchwork-squared-modern-solids.html
Fabric Rosette’s

I’ve been wanting to try to figure out how to make these fun fabric flowers for awhile now. With the gorgeous weather today I brought my supplies to my deck bench, kept an eye on the girls as the chalked and biked on our driveway, and made my very first rosettes. I used a gorgeous deep, chocolate brown interior design fabric that has an iridescent glow in certain lights and some neat texture from thread art on the fabric. I really like the end look – now I just have to figure out what I’m going to do with them!
I really haven’t done much with this challenge yet…BUT I do have an idea! Now I just have to figure out my colors for K A and L… Oh…and my idea is not complicated..if I can get the ‘base’ of it done in time I should be able to finish it baby or no baby…
No further progress…
Goals from last week:
