It’s the second last clue today! Anyone have any idea what the blocks for the Sixth Annual Project QUILTING Mystery Quilt Along are based off yet? Leave a comment below.

Clue 7 – Blocks 13 & 14

Cutting Block 13:
Fabric A: (1) 7″ x 7″ square (1) 1″ x 8″ strip
Fabric B*: (1) 1.25 ” x 9″ strip (1) 1.5″ x 9″ strip (2) 1.5″ x 5″ strips
*Strip lengths may vary because of the slices you cut. Just make sure the strip length is slightly longer than the background fabric.
Making Block 13:

On the left hand side, cut two strips so they create a “V” type shape in Fabric A. Place two strips of Fabric B into the cuts. I chose to use a 1.5″ strip and a 1.25″ strip. Just make sure the strip length is slightly longer than the background fabric.

Sew the Fabric B strips into the two left most section of Fabric A. To offset the “V” type shape, I chose to add in a 1″ x 8″ Fabric B strip. You can do this anywhere you’d like as you make these blocks.

On the right hand section of Fabric A make two cuts randomly. Place two strips of Fabric B into the cuts. I chose to use 1.5″ strips.

Sew the Fabric A strip to the left portion of the block. Press towards Fabric B. Sew the two 1.5″ strips of Fabric B into the random cuts. Press towards Fabric B.

Trim the right side of the right section so there is a nice smooth connection with the left section.

Sew the two sides together. Press towards the left side.

Square Block 13 to 6.5″ x 6.5″ square.
Cutting Block 14:
Fabric A: (1) 7″ x 7″ square
Fabric B: (1) 1″ x 9″ strip (2) 1.25″ x 9″ strips (2) 1.5″ x 9″ strip
Making Block 14:

Make one sharp diagonal cut. Place one strip of Fabric B into the cut. I chose to use 1.5″ strip. Just make sure the strip length is slightly longer than the background fabric.

Sew the strip into the Fabric A square. Press towards the Fabric B strip. Make another cut so it crosses the first diagonal cut made. Place a 1.25″ strip of Fabric B in the cut.

Sew the Fabric B strip in and press towards Fabric B.

Make three more improv horizontal cuts in the block. Place three strips of Fabric B into the cuts. I chose to use a 1.5″ strip, a 1.25″ strip and a 1″ strip.

Sew the Fabric B strips into the Fabric A square. Press towards the Fabric B strips.

Trim Block 14 to 4.5″ x 6.5″ rectangle.
